Opportunities to Volunteer in Africa

When it comes to volunteering abroad, there are a number of opportunities available and many people will choose to volunteer in Africa.  People from all different walks of life will choose to spend some time volunteering in a country like Africa but these days students are increasingly volunteering during their gap year.  The great thing about being a volunteer in Africa is the fact that there is so much to do.  You can help the underprivileged while learning about other parts of the world.  You can even have some fun when you are not working.  So what opportunities are there for people who volunteer in Africa?

Wildlife VolunteeringWildlife volunteering is something that attracts a lot of people because they get the chance to work in environments that they could never have imagined.  Helping out in elephant sanctuaries or lion conservations is a dream come true for many people and for those with a keen interest in wildlife, it is the opportunity of a lifetime.  You get the chance to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures while doing your bit to help at the same time.

There are a number of animals that are in danger in Africa as well as lions and elephants so you could work with these too.  Leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos and even wild dogs all require the help of volunteers.  
Working with PeopleMany others will choose to volunteer in Africa in order to help the starving people.  There is a lot of poverty in Africa and volunteers can help to make the country a better place to live.  You can provide medical assistance, teaching, or just general labour when volunteering here and no matter what you can provide, it will be greatly appreciated.

It is hard to believe that there are so many starving children in Africa who need our helps especially when Africa is a holiday destination for those with plenty of money.  Safaris in places like Kenya are hugely popular and when it comes to South Africa, there are fabulous resorts where the rich and famous like to relax.  However, just miles away, there are people living with nothing and they need our help more and more.  
Why Volunteer?Most of us are more than willing to donate money to help the countless appeals that have been set up to help these starving people.  However, it is just important to be able to provide time and skills to these people.  Those who are able to volunteer in Africa will find that this is a richly rewarding experience.  It is something they will remember for the rest of their lives.
